THE BUSINESS PROBLEM
The customer was in the process of implementing a new Oracle Applications Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, with a very aggressive deadline. Multiple legacy systems needed to exchange data with the new ERP system and the interface requirements were not able to be defined until the very last minute, since implementation depended on the ongoing configuration of the Oracle system. And, to further complicate matters, the requirements continued to change well into the week of production deployment. In short, the customer needed an integration tool that allowed interfaces to be completed rapidly and on-time despite the tight deadline and the constantly evolving requirements.
THE NLINK SOLUTION
NLINK® provided a common integration platform on which all interfaces were implemented. This allowed for interchangeability of team members and flexibility in personnel assignments since team members were able to quickly pick up each other’s NLINK configurations. NLINK’s Rapid Application Integration (RAI) approach meant that completion of the interfaces did not delay the Oracle ERP implementation. The ERP went in on schedule without having to wait on interfaces to be completed and the use of NLINK allowed multiple changes to completed interfaces to be accommodated without affecting project deadlines.
NLINKArchitecture
This project posed some significant challenges that few other commercially available integration solutions could match. The first 13 interfaces, supporting 31 different output formats, were completed in just two calendar weeks, by a team of three configurers. What is even more noteworthy is the fact that this configuration team was made up entirely of Implementation Partner personnel who received only 2 1/2 days of NLINK training prior to starting the project. Junot Professional Services provided the initial NLINK training and then played an ongoing QA role throughout the project to ensure adherence to standards and to promote the reusability of configuration components. In addition, we leveraged our established Professional Services infrastructure and configuration methodology, (including such things as: deliverable formats, sign-off points, and pre-built configuration components), to ease the learning curve and maintain an exceptionally high standard for the deployed solution.

ENVIRONMENT
 |
CoNNectors, eXtenders, the NLINK Server and NLINK Modules are components of a total environment for delivering process integration within and between companies. The NLINK product suite has been independently certified on Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista as a pre-requisite for continued inclusion in the Microsoft Certified Partner Program. As you would expect, NLINK operates equally well on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. |
