BACKGROUND
Many companies have existing business solutions that need to be integrated into an effective enterprise solution. The traditional approach has been to create a new point-to-point solution for every two applications that need to share information. The NLINK SDK delivers the optimal solution for bringing these applications into the NLINK environment, providing total connectivity to all applications integrated in the environment. The NLINK SDK allows developers complete flexibility to use whatever logic is required and whatever programming language is appropriate.

The NLINK SDK is comprised of several components:

• DCOM API. The DCOM API defines the basic functionality required by a CoNNector.

• NLINK CoNNector Wizard. The CoNNector Wizard allows the rapid creation of a working CoNNector that is already integrated with Microsoft’s Visual Studio.

• CoNNector Helper DLL. The CoNNector Helper dynamic link library provides a set of useful functions that the CoNNector developer can use to simplify and standardize the development process.

• .NET, VB and C++ Templates. Templates are used by the CoNNector Wizard to automatically generate functional code in a matter of minutes.

• .NET, VB and C++ Examples. CoNNector examples are provided to illustrate some of the best practices and approaches that are recommended by Junot.

• Extensive Documentation. Extensive CoNNector development documentation is provided to simplify the development process even further.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The NLINK SDK is based on DCOM. It can be implemented in any language that supports DCOM (e.g. C#, C++, Visual Basic, etc.) and run on any operating system that supports DCOM natively (e.g. Windows /NT/2000/2003/XP), or any operating system that supports DCOM through third-party products (e.g. most flavors of UNIX).

FUNCTIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
The NLINK SDK empowers custom systems to access the NLINK environment, send string or binary data to NLINK, and get string or binary data from NLINK. Developers only need to code a thin CoNNector^® to handle the lower-level communications with the system. In fact, the SDK contains less than a dozen function calls (as shown above), which makes it extremely easy to understand and quick to implement.



ENVIRONMENT

CoNNectors, eXtenders, the NLINK Server and NLINK Modules are components of a total environment for delivering process integration within and between companies. The NLINK product suite has been independently certified on Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista as a pre-requisite for continued inclusion in the Microsoft Certified Partner Program. As you would expect, NLINK operates equally well on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
